Hey everyone. Adam Mcvey here with my latest blog entry. One of my smaller goals, though equally important, is to keep a weekly journal for my blog. I’ve dropped the ball thus far keeping up with it and I know people are really interested in what I’m doing so I need to be a little more serious with it. I’ve always sucked at logs and journals when it comes to my training but I don’t think it’s too much to ask for one fucking weekly entry. If I slack, make sure you guys call me out on being a lazy ass procrastinator!!!!!
As many of you know, things have taken off here at REAL WORLD MUSCLE. The GEAR’D UP podcast is doing way better than I could have ever dreamed and the out cry of support is very moving and humbling. People from all over the globe are tuning in, and a couple of our shows have reached the 10k download mark. Bostin Loydd as usual tops the charts (his show has almost 20k downloads) with some others like Matt Porter and Skip Hill not far behind. I’ve had the honor to team up with John Meadows and Phil Hernon and their respective companies, and things look awesome for 2014.For those that follow me you also know that in teaming up with Phil at www.purchasepeptides.com, I have started on a 12 week journey and mini diet to see what kind of transformation I can make in that time, all the while, solely researching peptides only (no anabolics or androgenics, no t3 or clen, nothing but peptides and a sarm) I was extremely eager to jump into it so I started immediately a week before Christmas. Most of you also know I have decided to go into a keto (palumbo) type nutritional strategy with carbohydrates coming only in the form of intra workout highly branched cyclic dextrins. My diet looks like this, all though it changes on a day to day basis as far as food types. If I do deviate however, the macros are exact. So hilariously, I’m using IIFYM with clean bodybuilding foods not shit food. So for example I may replace whole eggs with a protein shake and coconut oil and so on.
1. 4whole eggs cooked in coconut oil, 1/2-1c egg whites
2. 8oz chicken, 1oz raw nuts
3. 8oz ground turkey, green beans, 1.5tbsp coconut oil
TRAIN: intra drink
4. 2 scoops whey isolate, 2tbsp peanut butter, tons of spinach (blended with ice)
5. 8oz top round sirloin, green veggie with grass fed butter
6. Repeat one of the above meals.
My start weight for this was 230.6. I went about 12 days getting a feel for the diet and shuffling things around a bit before using Christmas as my “load”.
Now for the remainder of the diet I will be using the skip load technique one day a week. On Christmas though, I enjoyed life and the company of my loved ones and ate my fair share of cookies, cheesecake, potatoes, and all the other goodies that come with the season.
Amazingly, and remember I’m using peptides EXCLUSIVELY, my weight has gone from 230.6 at the start, to 234.4 TODAY!!!!! (Now on start of 3rd week)I’m absolutely ecstatic about this. I had originally planned on hitting cardio 3 times a week, but I have to be honest and tell you I have not done it twice over the first 2 plus weeks. And I also have to tell you, IM GLAD I HAVENT!!!! My body composition is clearly changing visually, and my weight has gone up!!!
My enthusiasm about this peptide only trial could not be higher. I mean how fucking cool is it that I’m on basically no carbs, and I’m gaining size?!?!?!?!?! UMMMMM YES PLEASE!!!!
I can feel my body is beginning to adjust to the diet performance wise. Adding in the coconut oil has been a god send. I can really tell the difference in my energy levels in the gym. Anyone on low carbs should use this stuff.
I am battling some newly formed elbow tendinitis. I have no idea how it got here. I’m going to have to back off on my poundages and slow down my movements big time. Today I trained chest and I had to go pretty damn light. Tony Freidrich and I were just talking in the radio show last night about doing some Dennis James type, super slow movements and it looks like I will be incorporating that style in some of my training for the time being. It also looks like I’m going to have to go old school Chris Cormier style and buy some neoprene elbow sleeves. I’m going to be 36 this upcoming year and I’m so hardheaded I always ignore the signs and something like this happens.
I’m curious about where it came from but I suspect it’s because I’ve been squatting pain free again for the last 6 weeks or so and my shoulder and bicep flexibility kinda suck. Squatting can really strain the elbows if you don’t have the proper flexibility and keep your hands in to tight. As such, I’ll be switching to the safety squat bar for a few weeks as well and see if that helps.
To be honest, I’ve been telling myself I should train lighter for awhile now but like I said I’m just to fucking hard headed. I always look at these things as a blessing in disguise though. It won’t stop me and there are ways to train safer while keeping the intensity up. Aches and pains are part of this sport and the champions learn how to work around them. The losers use them as an excuse to be fucking pansy asses in my opinion. There’s always something you can do. I’ve done shoulder machines and chest press machines with a fucking broken hand in a cast. I’ve had 2 bulging discs and I just trained movements where I was seated. THERE’S ALWAYS SOMETHING YOU CAN DO.
I’d like to thank John meadows over at www.mountaindogdiet.com for coming on as a sponsor and supporting us. You guys be sure to go sign up at his express site. It’s the absolute best value in the sport when it comes to obtaining knowledge. And I for one, truly believe in the man and his teachings.
